By George

After 6 days of counting carbs and calories, it feels so comforting to just indulge in some sweets. But if most of you are like me, I always feel guilty afterwards. So I did some exploring and found healthier alternatives to cheat day snacks, and I would like to share them with all of you. I would really like to hear what you guys think, so please share your own list of healthy snacks and treats for cheat days by posting your own message and/or replying to this one. This way, we can all discover new snacks and treats together :)

Enjoy!

Thanks for posting the treat ideas for animals. I have 2 dogs at home and I have been looking for all natural dog treats to give them a healthier alternative!

For those who enjoy baking with peanut butter (cookies or cakes), you may want to try to substitute it with organic almond butter as it is a healthier choice and tastes just as great! :)

@ Jessica Foglietta: It is my pleasure :) Please let me know which healthier alternative you choose to go with when buying treats for your two dogs. I am curious to know. And yes organic peanut butter is a much healthier choice than the standard one. Thanks for posting :)

If your dog is a picky eater, what treat(s) have you tried and didn't work? Because all 3 of my suggestions are holistic choices, they do tend to be much more appealing in terms of smell, taste, and overall enjoyment for your dog :) Hope to hear from you soon! Thanks for posting :)

Baking the organic cake mix by Dr. Oetker should be a whole lot of fun! Try the different flavours. And if you still need to get your protein intake, throw in a couple scoops of whey protein powder :) Tell me how cake turns out. I'm sure it will be delicious!

Which treats to you plan on trying? All 3 very good. Max really prefers the Buddy Biscuits and the Muttos. The Natural Balance L.I.T. is also great. Do you live in the Montreal are? Try picking them up at Brandy's Holistic Pet Shop (http://www.brandys.ca/shop/home.php). They deliver for free!

I bake often for my husband and daughter but I would like to find a healthier way to do so. I will be sure to try this cake mix for our next family event.

Thanks for your post :) There's a lot of joy in baking and I am sure you will find that joy when baking with organic ingredients (or cake mixes). They will taste a lot better, and you can feel good about it :) Let me know how you like the cake mix. And if you have any pets, consider the dog treat recommendation. You can find them at Brandy's holistic pet shop (just click on the name in the article for the link). Thanks again :)
